Could this be the next threat to newspapers? Wavii promises instant news feeds from any topic, has a similar feel to Facebook. It's the latest news aggregator to launch and it's getting plenty attention from investors.

Wavii and Facebook
Facebook vs. Wavii

Founder and former Microsoft-man Adrian Aoun told techcrunch “Facebook’s feed has proven itself as the best way of connecting with and staying on top of your friends, but it’s limited to friends. Users want the rest of their info that way too, whether it’s their interest in politicians, movies, cities, or start-ups. Wavii lets you follow everything else (e.g., politicians, celebrities, companies, products, etc).

Instead of your friends’ check-ins, photo tagging, relationship status, etc., you get company acquisitions, movie trailers, celebrity sightings, etc." While they're not yet open for sign up, early access is available in exchange for viral invitations. Check out their blog here or visit wavii.com.

_B&T recently ran an opinion piece by Nick Leeder, Managing Director, Google Australia and New Zealand on what he thought the challenges of 2012 will be which included some fascinating statistics regarding the mobile marketplace.

The single biggest challenge for Google Nick predicted, "is the lack of advertisers with a clear mobile strategy". Nick says "the most basic step is creating a version of your website that's optimised for visitors coming from mobile devices". The second thing many businesses get wrong is that they think an iPhone app is the same thing as a mobile strategy - it's not.
